2017 GST Voucher – Cash Special Payment

This year’s GST Voucher recipients will be receiving a one-off GST Voucher Cash Special Payment of up to $200 on top of the regular GST Voucher – Cash payment.

About 1.57 million eligible Singaporeans will be receiving S$1.2 billion in GST vouchers and Medisave top-ups.

Eligible recipients will receive up to $500 in 2017, this is to help the lower-income households with their living expenses.

The regular payment of up to $300 will be in paid in August 2017, whereas the one-off Special Payment of up to $200 will be in November 2017.

The eligibility criteria for the 2017 GST Voucher – Cash Special Payment will be the same as the 2017 regular GST Voucher – Cash.

Do note that Singaporeans who own more than one property as of 31 December 2016 will not be eligible for the 2017 GST Voucher.
 

Increase To GST Voucher – U-Save For 2017

There will be an increase to the GST Voucher – U-Save rebate for eligible HDB households from July 2017 onwards.

The rebates will see a permanent increase of $40-$120 depending on the flat type This increase will cost the government an additional $71 million per year and sees to benefit around 880,000 households.

Do note that households whose members own more than one property will not be eligible for the voucher.

The GST Voucher – U-Save will be paid over four quarters – January, April, July and October.

The increase will take place from July 2017 onwards.
 

Signing Up For The GST Voucher

Those who have signed up for the GST voucher or any other government payout scheme in the past will receive their GST voucher payouts automatically.

If you have not signed up before, remember sign up online or head down to community centres to sign up by December 31, 2017.

Eligible recipients aged between 21 and 55 who have updated their mobile numbers on SingPass will be notified via SMS of the benefits that they are entitled to.

Those who are aged 56 and above will be receiving both SMS notifications as well as letters to notify them, MOF said.

Those who are eligible, do remember to head over to  www.gstvoucher.gov.sg to log in and update your payment mode to direct bank crediting. Cheque payments will take a longer duration of two weeks.
 

450,000 Will Be Eligible For Medisave Top-Up

In addition, approximately 450,000 Singaporeans who are aged 65 years and above will be receiving a Medisave top-up of up to $450 in August.

On top of that, Singaporeans who are born on or before December 31, 1959 and do not receive Pioneer Generation benefits will receive up to $200 top-up for their Medisave in 2017 and 2018.

The Pioneer Generation will receive Medisave top-ups of $200-$800 in July.
