For the uninformed, Silent Disco is the latest hype on our sunny island. The last time we saw a crowd sporting lighted headphones and grooving along as though they’re in a club was at the Neon Lights Festival last November. Silent Disco Asia is a concept brought into Singapore from London, where it was hosted at The Shard, a majestic building which is currently Western Europe’s tallest building.

Why It Appeals To The Masses

The concept gives the masses a sense of control of what they want to listen and allows you to see who else is enjoying the same music. The creative edge allows the people to put music at the centre of their focus. Besides, it’s an effective way to simply enjoy the music without having the need for small talk, which is every introvert’s dream.

It may start off as an awkward dance and would certainly induce laughter from watching your friends dancing all by themselves. But the novelty will soon rub off, leaving you to enjoy the music fully without background chatter.

If you missed the previous Silent Disco Asia, fret not, there is an upcoming one at the i Light Marina Bay Festival. Housed at the Marina Bay City Gallery, it won’t be half as spectacular as experiencing it at The Shard but you’ll definitely still be awed. The venue will come fully equipped with air-conditioning, a well-stocked bar, bespoke décor and lighting, and with floor to ceiling glass windows and will offer an unparalleled view of the CBD across the marina.

The Kids Are Not Forgotten

Making its debut at the i Light Marina Bay is the first ever Kids Version of this discotheque experience. Catering to families and those under 16, it offers a mashed up playlist of Disney songs coupled with Justin Bieber’s crowd favourites from 2010. It will be held at the same venue as last year and brings good news to those of us who secretly want to groove along to our favourite High School Musical hits; there is no strict age limit for those who wish to be a part of this revelry.

Check out the full details of the event here.

Tickets are priced from $20 and $12 for the Adult and Kids version respectively. Children under 2 enter for free.
