No hipster fairy lights but there’s authentic Thai food.

Artbox Singapore was undeniably a huge hit with Singaporeans – seeing as to how it easily combines instagrammable foods and hipster fairy lights installations. While most of us were busy pushing our way through throngs of crowds, the wiser ones would have just bought the famous tri-colored Talad drinks at their Toa Payoh outlet.

But if you’re one of those complaining about how your Artbox Singapore experience can’t compare to its Bangkok counterpart, then maybe this Thai Festival will make up for it.

While this event may not scream “hipster”, it’ll probably be the closest experience you can get to a traditional Thai market in Singapore. Held at the Royal Thai Embassy, the festival will feature everything Thai-related, from food and fashion to cultural and Muay Thai performances.

If the food at Artbox was too pretentious for you, then perhaps this might be right up your alley.

Looking at last year’s festival, you can expect a slew of authentic Thai street food like the Mango Sticky Rice, Pad Thai, Grilled Meat Skewers and the ubiquitous Thai Milk Tea.

For those of you always nursing a craving for some Thai food, why not take it to the next level with Thai cooking classes featuring classic dishes like Pad See Ew and a basic Papaya salad.

Everything from fresh produce to fashion will be flown in from Thailand, so you’ll probably be treated to sweet, juicy Thai mangoes and none of the tasteless ones.

This Thai Festival may not be exactly the real deal you’re used to in Bangkok, but it’s definitely comparable. While you scramble to save up for a trip to the Thai capital for some serious food binge and retail therapy – fill that void with this in the meantime.
