From below-ground cafes to cramped stairwells, there’s nothing quite like finding an off-road coffee spot with good waffles and the likes. If you have yet to step foot in the city and their cafe culture, don’t despair – our sunny island will feature a Melbourne Cafe Street pop-up featuring three of their world-famous cafes. Coffee lovers – this will be your haven.

Market Lane

A small space with nothing but brew, Market Lane Coffee sits across Queen Victoria Market. With 5 shops all over the city, this is the go-to place for serious coffee drinkers. They are touted as Melbourne’s caffeine specialists, evident in the lack of latte art in their cuppas.

Serving mainly espresso and filter coffee, as well as a small selection of cakes from Beatrix bakes, this is one of those coffee places that you simply can’t miss. They also sell beans and specialty equipment, including grinders, plungers and filter paper, for coffee fiends looking to replicate their work at home.

St Ali

Located in a laneway in South Melbourne, this warehouse styled cafe serves up the great coffee and even greater food. It’s a popular spot amongst breakfast-goers, as everyone is bound to find something they fancy with their wide variety of offerings as well as gluten-free and vegan options. Also one of the coffee pioneers in Melbourne, they focus on strongly on quality beans and a unique brewing method.

Here’s hoping they will recreate St.Ali’s trendy cafe layout, complete with funky baristas and club tracks.

Industry Beans

Coffee snobs, this is the place where you’ll be immensely satisfied. With a cutting-edge design and contemporary cuisine, this place is somewhat of a coffee mecca. Fans of espresso, aeropress, pour-over cold drip; it’s a perfect place for those with an eye for detail and an appreciation for the finer things in life. With a menu that’s centred around the idea of ‘brunch reimagined’, the open kitchen at Industry Beans serves up some of the most delicious brunch in Melbourne. Having been named the best designed café in the world in 2014, everything about the Fitzroy roastery and cafe feels warm and welcoming.

With free coffee served from 11am – 5pm daily from 18 to 22 May 2017 at the Melbourne Café Street Pop-up, visitors are encouraged to walk around the cafes to discover their unique stories and coffee, and choose their favourite to grab a free cuppa as a morning wake-me-up or afternoon pick-me-up.

The Melbourne café street project in Singapore is a collaboration between Italian coffee machine brand De’Longhi, specialty coffee beans e-tailer Cafebond.com and Australian-based Harvey Norman Millenia Walk Flagship Superstore.
