Singapore is known for its hot weather; while some tourists come here to escape the cold, we often lament how the sun can be extremely unforgiving. Perhaps, it might be best to fight fire with fire – literally.

We’ve round up 6 flaming dishes in Singapore that are so hot, they are literally on fire.

1. Flaming Chicken By De’Beer Garden Seafood Restaurant

If you live in the west, you would have probably heard of Sunset Way. But for all those east siders out there, here’s one reason you ought to visit this dining area in Clementi:

This world flaming chicken by De’Beer Garden Seafood restaurant. Yes, you read that right – a chicken that’s on fire.

Source

A whole chicken is served pierced through a metal rod atop a shallow steamboat pot filled with herbs and some greens in a broth. Flaming rose wine is then poured over the chicken, setting it alight for a good few seconds.

If you’re worried about the flames getting in all over your dishes, fret not as this spectacle will be done on a separate table. A member of the staff will then slice up the chicken and serve it in the broth itself.

At S$60++, this is a sight well worth the money.

Do check out their other signature dishes like La La Bee Hoon and Sauna Prawns, which are steamed prawns served over a bed of hot stones in a wooden tub.

2. Flaming Rocket Burger By The White Rocket

Nestled in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD) lies a treasure trove of finds.

And this time, we’ve stumbled across The White Rocket, a place for those in the know, or so I’ve heard. Occasionally, one can see a burger literally being lit on a table by one of their friendly staff.

It’s none other than the Flaming Rocket Burger.

Double the Australian minced chuck patties, the cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and their house-made burger sauce – and you get this mammoth of a burger which then doused in flaming bourbon for extra flavour.

Finish this dish off with a slide of fries and it’s best washed down with one of their one-for-one beers (Asahi or Kronenbourg).

Anything can actually be set on fire. Afterall, fire or heat is almost always essential in making food.

The people behind Atmosphere Bistro & Bar have decided to do just that and set a pizza on fire – the Flaming Pizza.

Like most dishes that we have mentioned so far, alcohol is used as a fuel for the fire, and this time it’s in the form of rum. The rum is doused onto the pizza before being lit, making it a cool sight to witness.

4. Awesome Flaming Pineapple Beef By Lokkee Restaurant

Flaming foods come in a variety of shapes and sizes but none quite like this pineapple.

Dubbed the Awesome Flaming Pineapple Beef, this dish is the brainchild of Lokkee Restaurant. With a location right in the heart of town at Plaza Singapura, there is no excuse not to check this place out.

Marinated sliced beef cubes are served in a dug-out pineapple which is perched on a stand. The pineapple is then blowtorched generously, allowing the juices of the pineapple to seep into the meat.

One can just imagine the flavours inside while seeing all of this happen on the outside. This is as savoury as a dish can get.

We’ve all heard about crepe suzettes getting flamed but how about cotton candies? At Mr & Mrs Maxell’s, you get to see first hand that this delectable dish exists.

It’s called the Baked Alaska and colourful cotton candies will be set on fire right before your very eyes.

6. Flaming ‘Kopi’ Crab By Majestic Bay Restaurant

Crabs can be served in a variety of sauces but crabs drenched in a special kind of coffee sauce are what you would least expect. And these crabs are served while on fire – now that’s something special.

This time, we head to Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant for their Signature ‘Kopi’ crabs.

Source

If you love coffee, you share one thing in common with the chef. The sauce of the Signature ‘Kopi’ Crabs itself consists of three different kinds of coffee beans: Arabica, Brazilian, and White.

But that’s not all – upon serving this signature dish, a server will pour a cup of coffee liquor onto the coffee-smeared crabs and proceed to set them on fire, stirring and mixing this special concoction.

Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant uses Sri Lankan crabs for good measure, so there sure is enough to go around for everyone or for you to steal one more bite of savoury goodness.
