Sorry Beliebers, but your favourite pop star will not be gracing our shores this year.

In an totally unexpected move, American pop sensation Justin Bieber has cancelled the rest of his Purpose World Tour which would have seen him perform in Singapore on October 7 this year.

Justin Bieber has been dominating the airwaves with hits like Sorry and Despacito – which has been playing literally everywhere – and local fans were probably looking forward to finally hearing the Biebz perform these new songs live.

Unfortunately, with this cancellation, Beliebers will have to wait indefinitely for that moment.

For those who have already purchased a ticket, The Singapore Sports Hub has yet to release any instructions on the refund process.

Unforeseen Circumstances

The reason behind the cancellation remains shrouded in mystery, with a statement from his management explaining that it was done so due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

His management added:

“Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months…However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates.”

However, as The Straits Times points out, health does not seem to be a reason as the 23 year-old was spotted hiking in Los Angeles over the weekend.

UnBeliebers

Whatever the reason Justin had, his decision has definitely drew the ire of locals online.

One fan had almost bought his tickets, which were made available 3 days ago (July 22).

One Singaporean pointed out Justin’s bad public behaviour, which got him banned from China recently, as a contributing factor.

With all that was said and done, one guy saw the opportunity to make a solid pun.

A Similar Incident

Almost seven years ago, a similar situation occurred with American rock band The Killers.

Despite much anticipation, the Grammy Award nominees cancelled the Asian leg of their 2010 tour due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

However, they made up for it by finally performing in Singapore for the 2013 F1 Grand Prix, where they satisfied fans with one of the best performances of the evening.

Hopefully for Beliebers, the same can be said for Justin when he returns to Singapore.
