For those who can’t be bothered to battle the crowds after Artbox, we urge you to go down and soak in the spirit of the fasting month.

Last year’s Ramadan Bazaar was arguably a stark departure from bazaars of the past years – the food was a whole lot more trendy, unique and not to mention very Instaworthy.

Known as one of Singapore’s biggest yearly affair, this bazaar is a must-visit. For those who can’t be bothered to battle the crowds after Artbox, we urge you to go down and soak in the spirit of the fasting month.

While purists are still hoping for a more old-school bazaar with traditional Malay kuihs and the likes, it’s unlikely to happen this year seeing as to how these pop-up stalls have already taken to social media with a sneak peek of their offerings. Expect to indulge in a candy floss burrito, Poke bowls, durian bingsu and more rainbow-themed food. Here, we’ve taken the liberty and rounded up the stalls you can expect to find at this year’s bazaar.

The Katoshka

This cup of fresh, hand cut russet fries topped with your choice of sauce is literally the easiest snack to have as you pave your way through the crowds. Katoshka takes their fries seriously – their russets are freshly cut and double fried upon order, so you might have to wait for a while before sinking your teeth into these crisp, cracker-like fries.

It currently comes with four sauce options (salted yolk, special cheese, sour ranch and BBQ), but according to their Instagram page, we will be treated to a wider variety of premium sauces at this year’s bazaar such as Mediterranean Curry and Beef Chili.

Who doesn’t love an extra large cup of Thai milk tea? Especially with the crowds and Singapore’s perpetually humid weather, this drink will come in handy as you complete your rounds of the bazaar.

They debuted at last year’s Geylang Bazaar and has since made numerous appearances at your neighbourhood pasar malams. Expanding their menu to include extra large cups of fruity sodas and lemon teas, we recommend sharing this good stuff if you’re not planning to max out your sugar intake.

The churros market is a highly competitive one, but Loco Loco appears to be riding on a wave that doesn’t seem to crash. They’re known for their variety of flavors like pandan, oreo, red velvet and of course the original. With an equally delicious chocolate, white chocolate and gula melaka dipping sauce, these churros make for one sinful dessert.

The pandan churros with gula melaka dip is a perennial favourite, but their Oreo variation with white chocolate sauce is going to win you over if you are a sucker for all things Oreo. They have an assortment box option if you can’t decide on a flavour – why choose one when you can have all four?

This year, a thai milk tea soft serve with churros will be joining the party. Loco Loco has also unveiled a new chili crab sauce for those of you looking for something unique.

They do a mean version of the Thai Milk Tea, but go for their Cotton Candy Soda for something more Instagrammable. Choose your soda flavour – grape, blueberry or cherry – and have a cloud of cotton candy placed on top for $3.

We might warn you that heat and cotton candy don’t go well together, unless you fancy getting your fingers sticky. That said, we can’t deny its Instagram-worthiness, so do it for the gram. Also, lookout for their new Unicorn and Thai Pink Milk Drinks that will be making an appearance at this year’s bazaar.

Judging by its popularity last year, this refreshing watermelon drink won’t be going away anytime soon. $6.90 may seem like a steep price to pay for a simple watermelon juice, but after a long day of work, this refreshing drink will perk you up to take on the bazaar.

Topped with freshly scooped watermelon flesh, condensed milk, syrup and ice served in watermelon husk, prepare to join the snaking queues for this highly Instagrammable drink.

Dendeng Tacos

Step aside Ramly Burger, Taco Dendeng is the new rising food star at Pasar Malams.

The Mexican staple gets a local spin as the crispy tortilla shell is filled with tomato salsa, lettuce and a slice of Dendeng, a thin dried meat that sweet and savoury. Imagine a beef jerky, but more bite. Your taco can also be customized with a range of sauces, such as nacho cheese, wasabi mayo, spicy garlic aioli and even salted egg yolk.

$5 gets you two tacos, but the dish is barely filling – we recommend completing the set with potato wedges ($3) or chicken drumlets ($5).

Here, your favourite chocolate bars gets blitzed up into milkshake form. Their milkshakes ($6) aren’t those diluted ones, they’re chunky, milky but with a nice slushy consistency. We recommend going for either the Kinder Bueno or Ferrero Rocher ones.

To complement your drink, there’s also hearty grilled sandwiches on offer. It comes in 4 variations such as Black Pepper Beef, BBQ Chicken, Sliced Beef with Caramelised Onions and for the non-meat lovers, there is the Mushroom Carbonara.

Priced at $7, these sandwiches are all buttered and stuffed with cheese, so you get that nice crusty exterior and warm gooey filling.
